“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew 24:36(NIV)
Does this mean false prophet, si Jesus?
Let’s break this down into a quick Apologetics Q&A para mas clear!
Q1: Did Jesus really predict that the "end of the world" would happen during His generation?
Answer: No, hindi end of the world ang tinutukoy Niya sa verse na ginagamit ng mga critics. Context is everything!
I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."
And guess what? He was 100% accurate! Exactly within that generation (around 40 years later, in AD 70), dumating ang Roman army na pinamunuan ni Titus at pinulbos ang Jerusalem.
Q2: Eh paano yung about sa sun getting dark, stars falling, and coming in the clouds? Hindi ba end of the world vibes 'yun?
Answer: It sounds like a sci-fi apocalyptic movie sa modern ears natin, pero sa mga Jewish listeners ni Jesus, alam nila na isa itong "prophetic idiom" o matalinghagang lengguwahe.
"The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light." Isaiah 13:10(NIV)
"When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light."Ezekiel 32:7(NIV)
He came in judgment using the Roman armies. 24:16).
"Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains." Matthew 24:16(NIV)
Isipin mo nga, kung literal na guguho ang buong planeta at end of the world na, anong sense na tumakbo ka pa sa bundok, di ba? Safe ba sa bundok kapag end of the world?
Q3: So, walang sinabi si Jesus about His actual Second Coming?
Answer: Meron!
Sabi Niya: "But concerning that day or hour no one knows, not the angels in heaven, nor the Son, except the Father."
Yung mga naunang verses ("all these things") nangyari na noong AD 70. Pero yung "that day" o ang Kanyang future, final return, the Final Judgment kung saan titipunin Niya ang lahat ng bansa is a totally different event.
Pero the early church fathers, like Athanasius, have a solid and beautiful answer for this: The Incarnation.
Si Jesus ay 100% God at 100% Man. Bilang Diyos (sa Kanyang divine nature), He is omniscient, alam Niya ang lahat. Pero nang magkatawang-tao Siya, He willingly accepted the limitations of being human.
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross!"Philippians 2:6-8(NIV)
Think of it this way: Imagine ang CEO ng isang malaking tech company na nag-undercover bilang isang ordinaryong empleyado (parang sa show na Undercover Boss).
Nandoon sa Kanya ang divine knowledge, pero in Kanyang earthly life, He chose to access only what He needed to complete His mission.
The Verdict
So, was Jesus wrong? Not at all!
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." Matthew 24:42 (NIV)
Paano? By living a life that honors Him today, pursuing our calling, and faithfully sharing the Gospel of the New Covenant sa mga taong nakapaligid sa atin. Are you living ready? Simulan mo na ngayong araw na 'to! Stand firm, keep the faith, and let's get to work for the Kingdom.

This is my take: Mas may nauna pa kay Darby sa mga prediction tungkol sa End of the World or Second Coming.
The Apostle Paul himself said:
"Test everything; hold fast what is good."
— 1 Thessalonians 5:21
And the Bereans were commended because they examined the Scriptures daily to verify what they heard (Acts 17:11). The same principle applies to history: we should verify historical claims rather than repeating them because they are common.
As for me, I avoid making one person the symbol of an entire movement when history is more complex. I personally practice not to attack personalities, denominations, or religious groups, but to invite everyone back to what is plainly written in the Holy Scriptures.
That approach echoes Apostle Paul's words:
"For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth."
— 2 Corinthians 13:8
May the Sovereign and Almighty God continue to bless our endeavours, the ministry entrusted to us by the Lord Yeshua Messiah with both truth and charity— speaking the truth faithfully while treating others with the gentleness and respect that reflect the character of Christ (Ephesians 4:15; 1 Peter 3:15). That combination is often what opens hearts to the Pristine Gospel more than winning an argument ever could. Grace and peace, my brother.
Thanks for this insight brother
